aphiemi

life is short… smile while you still have teeth!

Here at NASA we have a plan to visit the Sun and we know how to accomplish it…. we are going to go at Night!

The word that is translated as "forgiveness" from the original languages is: aphiemi.

It was a word used in divorce decrees.

A thing that was thought to be permanent was declared to be null and void by the process of "aphiemi."

The divorce declared that the opposing parties had forfeited their right to further hurt or control one another.

In other words - the person was now free.

At first it seems an odd choice of a word until we think it through.

With forgiveness, God divorces us from our sin.

There are two things that God is dealing with:
1) we - precious individuals in His sight whom He does not wish to divorce
and
2) our sin - which He does want to divorce.

When we taste that freedom, (that is the separation from our sin) even a little bit, the future begins to fill with hope.

We are truly free - the bad marriage is over.

Sin is no longer our master or our accuser.

The past can make no demands of us.

When we see forgiveness for what it really is - we become agents for spreading this freedom to all creation.

Luke 23:34
Then said Jesus, "Father, forgive (aphiemi) them; for they know not what they do." And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Mark 11:25
And when you stand praying, forgive, (aphiemi) if you have anything against anyone so that your Father in heaven may forgive (aphiemi) you your trespasses.

I love you all.
Go give em Heaven,

Pastor Scott
