One wolf is evil. He is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other wolf is good. He is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith. The wolf you feed is the one that grows.
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
Wow this is cool!
Second Corinthians 9:10 (GW) says,
“God gives seed to the farmer . . . God will also give you seed and multiply it. In your lives he will increase the things you do that have his approval."
Ok, so here is the deal. God is in the business of multiplication. That's what He does.
If you give away your time, He multiplies it.
If you give away your talent, He multiplies it.
If you give away your money, He multiplies it.
Whatever you give He will see from Heaven and give you
back more--provided you give it with a pure heart. That is, you want to give
God says He will increase the things you do that have his approval.
Farmers know that seed must be given away for it to increase.
If you keep seed in a sack, it doesn’t do any good. But when you plant it, it multiplies.
When you plant one corn seed, do you just get one corn
seed back? No, you get a stalk with hundreds of corn kernels.
When you plant one watermelon seed, do you only get one seed back? No, you get a bunch of watermelons with hundreds of seeds in them. God multiplies whatever little bit you give.
“Remember that the person who plants a few seeds will have a small crop. But the one who plants many seeds will have a large crop. God loves the person who gives cheerfully”
-2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (AP)
That’s because God gives cheerfully and he wants us to be like him. Here is a great example:
This last Wednesday night my daughter Caroline called me from New Zealand and told me of a friend who is with her on medical mission. She said the friend had raised the money to be there but due to an unfortunate circumstance was short $1300. She said if she did not have the money in the next 24 hrs she would have to return home.
I told her I believed our church would come through with the money. I told her not to worry and to let the her friend know God had a
plan. We hung up and I prayed “ Lord, our church is small but they love to give. Help us meet this precious girl's need.”
I realized, at that moment, that some of our youth and young adults had just finished Bible study outside my office at the Underground. So, I stepped out and explained to them the situation. Without batting and eye 3 of them said“I'll give $100 right now!”
These are young adults working two jobs just to make ends meet! One of them even said “Awesome! Here is the $100 right now. I would have just blown it on something stupid!”
Two others said, "All I have is $20, but she can have it." I was astonished at the generosity of their hearts! The even better news is this: within minutes the whole $1300 was raised. Way to go Summit Church! I cannot wait to hear how God multiplies it back to you and He will!
The Bible promises,
“You won’t regret it… It will all come back multiplied many times over in your lifetime. And then the bonus of eternal life!” -Luke 18:29-30 (The Message)
That’s a promise from Jesus.
“Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain” -1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV)
You went and gave em Heaven!
I am so pleased!
